About The Moody Bearcat Band Directors

The Moody High School Band is under the direction of Joey Guess and Brad Mitchell.

Mr. Guess is a 24 year veteran teacher/band director, and a graduate of Baylor University.  
He has taught in the small schools, large schools, and on the college level over the years. Mr. Guess was a member of the ​Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps ​in 1990, and a staff member of ​Lone Star Drum and Bugle Corps ​in 1993. He has five children, three grandchildren, and a wonderful wife of whom he adores.
 
Mr. Mitchell is a 22 year veteran teacher/band director, and a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He has taught in both Oklahoma and the great state of Texas. Mr. Mitchell was the Jazz Band Director of The Year while at Enid Oklahoma in 2000.  He won a Sweepstakes award with Enid Longfellow Junior High at the Tri-State Music Festival in 2002.  After coming to Eastland, Tx, the band recieved UIL Sweepstakes awards and placed 17th in the Texas State Marching Competition in San Antonio in 2011.  While at Academy, Tx Mr. Mitchell's middle school bands received all superior ratings in the four years he was there.
