Tyler Shirey
Hey, Bearcats!
I'm Tyler Shirey, a proud San Antonian with a passion for basketball, delicious food, and serving my church community. My journey in education has taken me from the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA) to the University of North Texas (UNT), and now, I'm pursuing my Master's in Education at Grand Canyon University (GCU). Interestingly, I started as an engineering major but, after some internships and shadowing experiences, realized my true calling was elsewhere.
Life outside the classroom is a fun mix of soccer matches, karate classes, and good-natured "beat-ups" courtesy of my two energetic boys, aged 4 and 6, and my newborn baby girl. My wife, my rock for the past 11 years, shares this adventurous journey with me. Together, we believe in hard work, diligence, and a lot of love.
School hasn't always been a walk in the park for me. I've been on both sides of the academic spectrum – from breezing through classes to grappling with challenging concepts. Because of this, I hold a special place in my heart for students who push their boundaries and remain committed, offering them grace and understanding.
One of my guiding beliefs is, "Don't worry, it will all work out." With this mindset, I'm looking forward to an incredible year of learning and growth. Let's make it a memorable one!
