Texas Assessment Initiative (TSI) The TSI Assessment is the official assessment test for the state of Texas. Students who meet the minimum passing standards for TSI Assessment in all subject areas are deemed to have met the requirements of the Texas Success Initiative. Students who do not make a passing score in one or more subject areas on the TSI Assessment will be required to complete developmental course work.
The law requires all entering college students to be assessed for college readiness in reading, mathematics and writing unless the student qualifies for an exemption. Each student who fails to meet the minimum passing standard of TSI Assessment must be placed in a developmental education program designed to help the student achieve college readiness.
